Okay, okay, so photo album-sharing is actually really beneficial. Up to 50 friends can share 200 photos in one album, which is perfect for events—proms, weddings, trips—or sharing pictures with family members.

Surface Pro 2 review: This is the Windows tablet you're looking for You have to appreciate Microsoft’s tenacity. After launching the original Surface Pro tablet to mixed reviews, the company opted not to rebuildscratch but to refine its vision for a thick and heavy, but powerful, tablet. The result is Surface Pro 2. Much like Windows 8.1, Surface Pro 2 is less conflicted on both the laptop and tablet sides of the hybrid equation, arriving with a more flexible kickstand, improved Touch and Type Covers, longer battery life, and better thermal design. It’s still less than the best of both worlds, but the balance between them no longer feels so uneasy. The Surface Pro 2 is also a better lesson in compromise than the just-released Surface 2. Both hybrid devices sport incremental rather than revolutionary upgrades, but the Pro version is simply more useful when you’re working with your hardware in

Twitter revamps timeline; highlights photos, videos Twitter was born in 2006 as a stream of SMS text messages. Before going public in 2013, it's now reveling in images. The company has tweaked its design to favor image- and video-sharing by showing visual media directly within the Twitter timeline. Users previously had to click on a tweet to view the embedded multimedia. Although the change does not affect the basic mechanics of how content is shared, it will likely alter the feel of Twitter, which long clung to its roots as an 140-character, text-based service invented in an era before smartphones existed. As Twitter prepares to go public in a matter of weeks, the change will also present Twitter's advertisers with more opportunities to get attention-grabbing ads in front of users - leading to more revenue for the company. First look: Samsung‘s curved screen phone Galaxy Round The Galaxy Round created some buzz in tech circles when Samsung announced it earlier this month, but no one in the downtown Seoul cafeI played with the curved screen smartphone asked me about it or even gave a curious glance. That is likely because the curve is so subtle it is not apparent without a close look. At first glance, the Galaxy Round appears similar to the Galaxy Note 3 phone, which also has a big display measuring 5.7-inch. I could see the Round's left and right edges were raised slightly only when viewedthe top orthe bottom. After handling the device for about 20 minutes, it became clear why Samsung shied awayputting a more dramatic curve in the display. Reading news articles and Twitter messages made me feel light-headed after just a few minutes, especially with the phone in an upright position. New Milestone Emerges: Baby’s First iPhone App Charlotte Deutsch, who will be 2 years old next month, has a look of pure delight as she swipes the screen of her mother’s old iPhone, and finds a picture of herself. “Baby Chacha!” she crows, swiping again to encounter another treasure. “Dada!” On the new iPhone — the one her mother actually uses — her big sister, Izzy, 4, is utterly intent on “Dora’s Ballet Adventure,” her tiny thumb tapping away at the stars and arrows. The iPhones, loaded with 20 children’s apps and some 1,200 photographs, are among the girls’ favorite playthings. “The little one loves to go through the pictures and name who’s in them, see her grandma and her nanny,” said their mother, Tina Deutsch, a former nursery school teacher. “The older one loves the games, and taking pictures. She loves the clicking sound, and if it’s blurry, she knows how to it.”

On Thursday, Facebook removed the option for the last users still hanging on. This change only affects the less than 10 percent of you still using “Who can look up my timeline by name?” In December, Facebook said it would be retiring the setting “in coming weeks,” but that really meant more than 10 months, apparently. If this change is a shock to your system, listen up: There are other privacy settings you can use to control who has access to your profile. How to keep your real name and face out of Google's ads The journey was long and full of baby steps, but we’ve finally reached the destination: Google updated its terms of service on Friday to allow the company to slap your real name and face alongside ads, under an expansion of its “shared endorsements” program. Getting here took a while, and it took a slow expansion of the Google+ social service. First, Google+ users had to sign up for the service with their real names, rather than pseudonyms. Next, all new Google Accounts—even if you only wanted Gmail—required you to sign up for Google+. Then, back in May, Google began coaxing veteran YouTubersinto adopting Google+ accounts, and a few weeks ago, the company announced that allYouTube comments will be powered exclusively by Google+. Google+ integration throughout Google’s services seemed pretty handy at first. When searching the Play Store, the p

Dream of becoming a CEO? This greater emphasis on soft skills, a manifestation of an economy in crisis and change, is illustrated by how a global bank, with headcount of about 1,000 in India, redefined its search for a country head to executive-search firm Kelly Services a few months ago. When Kelly presented candidates with plum degrees who had nurtured big brands, the bank's board showed no interest in even meeting them. How noise-cancelling technology works for headphones Bose pioneered the concept of noise-cancelling headphones way back in 1989 after more than 10 years of research. ET explains how this fascinating technology works. Noise cancellation in the car You may have experienced that some cars are quieter than others - this is because of the special attention paid to insulating materials (special laminated glass for example). However, there's only so much that passive noise isolation can accomplish inside the complicated acoustics of the car. That's why luxury carmakers have been implementing active noise cancellation for a quieter cabin. The same active noise cancelling technologies used in headphones can be easily implemented in a car. See image for details. How it works Simply put, active noise cancellation works by 'listening' to unwanted ambient sounds, and then producing a s

YouTube readying paid music service Google's video-sharing arm YouTube is preparing to launch a subscription music service to allow consumers to watch videos and listen to music ad-free, industry sources said. Sources familiar with the plans told AFP the service is likely to launch sometime next year. The new plan would still allow users free access for the vast amount of music and music videos available on YouTube but would allow an option for a paid service without ads, with some extras such as the ability to store and listen to songs offline. A source familiar with the plan said YouTube is not setting up a "pay gate" for music and would continue to allow people to stream music on any device for free if they choose. The move, however, is the latest effort to monetize YouTube, which Google bought in 2006 for $1.65 billion and which is believed to generate a modest amount of advertising revenues. Y
