No less so here at the Code Conference, an annual gathering of the tech industry elite. During her appearance at the conference, Clinton talked about Russia's alleged attempts to influence last year's election to Trump's benefit. That's when she got in her "covfefe" barb. "I think it was a hidden message to the Russians," she said. The audience, largely made up of people who supported her in the election, laughed. Trump got the ball rolling on "covfefe" last night when he wrote in a since-deleted tweet, "Despite the constant negative press covfefe". The tweet immediately went viral, and an internet meme was born. Trump himself even poked fun at his apparent typo, writing in a

You know design is having its moment when IBM, the stodgy normcore dad of the tech industry,  gets in on the action . In the last five years, Big Blue has grown its designer to developer hiring target from 1:72 to 1:9. It’s not the only one — companies across Silicon Valley are recruiting far more designers than ever before. I’ve been hearing about this hiring crunch for years, ever since we  started Figma . A lot’s changed in the past decade. We’ve seen the rise of smartphones. Self-driving cars are on their way. The internet, and connectivity in general, are faster and more extensive than ever before. As you’re probably aware, this has all come to be known as the Internet of Things. A wave of technological advancements that are combining to connect more and more aspects of our lives to the internet. Now we have  smart washing machines . If there’s been any doubt about India being the next major target market for tech businesses, Kleiner Perkins partner Mary Meeker’s latest  Internet Trends Report  should make that clear as day. The report, which spans 355 pages, dedicates 55 pages solely to the state of internet and mobile access in India. The first major takeaway is that the country now has 355 million internet users, which amounts to roughly 27 percent of the population of 1.3 billion people. That’s up from 277 million in 2015. The average cost of a handset is now far more affordable than a decade ago, having dropped from about $270 in 2007 to under $150 in 2016, and from over 25 percent of per capita GDP down to 8 percent.
